Are all interviews conducted equally?

Not a chance.

There’s interviews that work and add value and those that just flat out don’t flow well and confuse the listener which add no value the the USP.

For someone who has never conducted an interview before in the online world, knowing what to include in the interview and deciphering what the interview should cover, can be a challenge. In order to add value to the product offering, the content of an interview should be fairly in-depth and detailed and should focus on one portion of the overall product offering.

Example: If you sell a book about successfully selling gift baskets online, an interview with a professional drop shipper about successfully negotiating “win-win” partnerships with drop shippers would be useful to the readers of your eBook.

So what is the most effective structure for an interview?

The answer to this question will depend on the product involved and the 2 people who are participating. There needs to be a certain flow to the interview and it needs to be conversational rather than “staged”…i.e., it cannot seem rehearsed. The interview should be conversational but informative and detailed, which can be quite a challenge since people just generally tend to get side tracked with anecdotes and non-related experiences to the topic. However, a certain portion of the interview should be lighthearted to keep it fun. Each participant should be able to be themselves and let their personality show through while delivering solid and informative content in the meantime.

A key part of defining an effective structure of an interview is understanding and establishing the chemistry between the 2 participants and planning accordingly before the interview takes place. If you are going to do an interview, call the interviewee and get to know them on a personal and business level just enough to have a comfortable feeling about doing the interview. Then, send the interviewee an outline of what you’d like to cover and call him/her again to make sure he/she is comfortable with the general outline for the conversation. This will make for a more free flowing conversation, and you will still be able to make the interview informative without sounding “preachy” or staged.

A general outline to use as a guide for the structure for an online interview:

1. General introductions - Most people who have credibility will want some sort of introduction in the beginning of the interview, this is only natural. In addition, you want your audience to know who you are talking to and why they should listen to what the interviewee has to say.

2. Why the interview is taking place - This can be informative in itself and can also promote the interviewee if they have a certain niche that you are exploring in the interview. The goal here is to make sure the listener understands the value of the information that will be covered.

3. The information of value - This is the meat of the conversation. It should include detailed questions and answers that illuminate the “why’s” and “how to’s” of the topic being presented.

4. Q and A - This is the section where the interviewer puts him/herself in place of the listener and asks the interviewee questions that a listener would most likely ask if he/she were in on the call with them. This can be a deeply effective portion of the interview because it gives the interviewee a chance to re-cap what might have been discussed and allows for further expansion on key points that were covered in the bulk of the interview itself.

5. Conclusion - This last section can include final words of wisdom, a plan of action for the listener, and/or one last promotional plug for the interviewee. If the interview flowed smoothly, this piece will be natural and “non-sales like”. The listener will most likely be very interested in what the interviewee has to offer in the way of a USP and will be a potential customer of the interviewer and interviewee if they aren’t already.

An online interview can be an extraordinarily useful tool for increasing credibility, adding exclusivity to a USP, and can generate profits for all parties involved.

Be humble, work smart, keep it simple.

Too many people are trying to start their home businesses with an ordinary employee’s way of thinking. This has become a common reason why not long after sitting down and giving it a fair look into even the most lucrative business opportunity they bump into, they put it away and decide not to take any chances.

What has happened here is that the most lucrative business opportunity has been looked into by an ordinary 9-to-5-worker, who appears NOT to be business-minded.

Besides gambling or winning a lottery, working as an employee is the only way to get ‘fast’ cash… ‘fast’ as in ‘in-25-working-days’. This kind of cash is always certain to come in as long as you work from 9 to 5 for your boss. But as you probably already know it, as soon as you stop, the money stops. True entrepreneurship-minded people know that it takes time to develop an ‘attack plan’ for their businesses. It takes time to build a strong and solid business, which delivers ongoing income through many years.

True Business Entrepreneurs hold on to this truth, “We reap what we sow, but the harvest is never in the same season as the planting.”

2. AIM FOR JOB SECURITY OR FINANCIAL SECURITY? Employees would rather have job-security. Why? Simple: the income is secure. As long as you loyally work from 9 to 5, you will for certain get your cash! The problem with a typical job is that when you stop, the money stops.

The stark fact is: one day you might get sick and won’t be able to go back to work. Sooner or later you will retire. Companies get broke and have to release their employees. No matter what the situation, as soon as you stop working, the money will stop coming.

So much for secure income…!

A job with secure income is necessary for those who has not set up their own business yet. True. But a true Business Entrepreneur won’t settle merely for job-security. He aims for much more, such as financial security. No, he won’t have fast cash. And no, he won’t have any secure income yet - at least not in the beginning. And often, he won’t have any income at all from his new business for the first few months.

Business entrepreneurs think of the big picture. What they do is building assets from which his money will come in month after month, year after year from work he is doing now! The money will not come now. It might not even come for the next few months. But as soon as his business is up and running, it will keep generating income for him, even when he chooses to stop working!

And THAT is financial security!

THINK OF THE BIG PICTURE: AIM FOR FINANCIAL SECURITY!

3. GENERATE PASSIVE INCOME

Financial freedom is not measured by how much money you earn by working, but how much money comes in with only little or no work at all. This later kind of income is called passive income. This fact has been known for decades by real wealthy people.

Successful and wealthy entrepreneurs do only little work and sometimes it is even possible to do the work only once but still generate recurring income on it. Imagine a song or a book writer. They write their songs or books once but get paid forever on it. This do-it-once-get-paid-forever type of income is called residual income.

Most people who have attained financial freedom have other people working to generate income for them. Earning money by other people’s effort is called leveraged income.

As hard as it may seem, to create leveraged income, you need to have your own business where other people work to generate income for you. Any business. Whether it is a traditional business, franchise, small business, internet based or home based.

Employees work to generate secure income. Business Entrepreneurs work to build assets with income streams which generates for him ongoing passive income (either residual or leverage income or both). In other words Business Entrepreneurs work to build himself -what I would call- a ‘money-machine’ which is designed to generate ongoing income.

Whereas the Employee can not stop working because otherwise he will lose his income, the Business Entrepreneur will have money coming in constantly, even when he chooses not to work, simply because it is his assets that generate residual and leverage income for him.

4. INVESTMENTS

It is common for people who seek job security to hesitate to invest. The reason is understandable: for some of us the risks of investing in a business are just too much to handle.

A true Business Entrepreneur understands that in order to build -what I would call- a ‘money-machine’, investments are necessary. There is just no such things as businesses without investments. He knows that it takes time and effort to develop a successful business. But he also knows that investing money is just as important!

Sometimes it takes the Business Entrepreneur a year or two before he can finally reap the big success. Sometimes even a bit more. It takes a couple of years of investing time, effort and money. But this is not too hard for him to handle. A true Entrepreneur thinks long term. He knows that in the end, his working and money investing will finally pay off!

A Home Based Business Entrepreneur would only have to invest just 5-10 hours a week for a couple of years and he would only have to make low budget investments into his home based business. And at the end of the time of working and investing, our Entrepreneur would have turned it into a significant amount of residual income stream!

I’m not talking about money that comes in today and is gone tomorrow but income that keeps coming in month after month, year after year… money that -as Gery Carson has put it- “when you’ve left this planet continues to provide for your spouse, children, or grandchildren.”

By then you would think that all your valuable time and money you have spent would be worth it.

Commonly an ordinary employee, who fears too much to invest, works hard to receive his pay check every month. Most likely he even retires broke. Before he knows it, he leaves the planet with nothing to leave for his family.

A true Business Entrepreneur is prepared to invest. He knows by investing in his business he is building assets that would generate passive and residual income for him throughout his years on this planet and the years of his grandchildren.

Change your way of thinking: THINK LONG TERM: START INVESTING!

Many people would love to be able to build their own home business. The chance to be your own boss, set your own working hours, and be able to work in your pajamas if you wish is a huge draw to so many of us! However, many people forget that a home based business is just that…a business. There are many legitimate home based business opportunities, however, they are not get-rich-quick solutions. They require a lot of hard work and dedication, and at first will more than likely have a slow turn-around in profit. However, if a person is truly dedicated and willing to work hard, it is very possible to create a successful home business.

Another aspect of the home based business opportunity that is often forgotten is that with nearly all opportunities, you can not work solely from home. As a business owner, you are responsible for your own networking, marketing, and advertising. This means you will need to spend time out and about, putting up fliers, brochures, and whatever other advertising avenues you choose to use. You will need to talk to people. In a typical day, we speak to dozens of people, from cashiers at the supermarket, to gas station clerks, to our co-workers and neighbors. Every time you speak to another human being is a chance to promote your business.

The person you are speaking with may not be interested, but they know dozens of people, too, and they might know someone else who would be interested! It never hurts to talk to people…the worst they can do is say no.

3) Move Outside Your Comfort Zone – The only way you will excel in life is by going beyond your normal routines and by reaching for your goals.

By striving for and obtaining the goals you have set, you will feel good about yourself, will have grown, and will feel the need to accomplish bigger and better things in life.

4) Laugh - Take time out of your daily schedule to read something funny, view a funny movie, or spend a night out with some friends. By laughing you are actually doing something healthy and positive, which can be a great way to relieve stress also.

5) Don’t Fear Failure – Take pride in what you do and be sure to put forth the best attempt you can.

No matter who you are we all fail at some point. If you look at each failure as a learning experience then the fear of failure should never be a concern.

Also by facing your fears you will soon learn that there really is no need to fear anything whatsoever.

6) Help Others – One of the best ways to lift your spirits and feel good is by helping those in need. No matter how big or small we’ve all needed help at one time or another and as good as it feels to receive help, by giving back the favor you will experience a feeling of goodness about a deed well done.

7) Be Grateful – Whether talking about family, friends, food, shelter or health, no matter where you are in life you have things to be grateful for.

Keep from looking at the things you don’t or wish you did have, but look at the things that you do have instead and be thankful for those things.

Don’t Be Negative – Dwelling on negative things only brings more negativity into your life.

We all possess the strength to change our attitude from negative to positive and by doing so you will be a much happier person.

Look for sites that cater to your target market and look for, or ask for, their advertising rates. Slowly but surely most of the sites that sold banner impressions are starting to offer performance advertising in the
form of pay-per-click.

This method won’t solve your traffic problem overnight. But it’s FREE. (Don’t you just love that word?)

Creating a permanent reciprocal link page is the easy part. Actively searching for other sites, then asking if the webmaster would be interested in giving you a permanent reciprocal link is hard work.

I’ve found a great piece of software called Zeus that is helping me to automate the process from finding sites I would WANT to get a reciprocal link with, to automatically sending out the email to the webmaster of the website.

The phrase, “money can’t buy happiness,” used to merely be accepted as an old adage or proverb. However, substantial research has now been done over the years to shed a little more light on this long standing saying.

Studies now clearly show that there is little difference between the level of perceived happiness between richer and poorer groups of people. In fact, around the World, poorer people in poorer countries often have seem to have the edge in reporting a greater sense of happiness. Naturally I’m not referring here to people who are in a state of starvation or other dire circumstances, but rather people who simply live a less hectic and materialistic lifestyle than most of us in more industrialized settings.

Numerous theories abound, but generally it’s thought that poorer people report greater happiness because they have less to worry about and so it takes less to make them happy. With fewer possessions and fewer options for entertainment family activities and other relationships occupy a greater percentage of time than might typically be observed among people who are better off. Some studies surmise that because marriage and family relationships bring some of the greatest feelings of happiness that poorer people are happier because they spend more time engaged in family activities and build stronger family bonds. Of course, people don’t have to live in a poor country. The same findings have been reported among poorer people in industrialized countries like the United States.

I won’t cite actual references and statistics because the studies are so numerous that you can easily find all of the studies you want simply by entering the phrase, “money can’t buy happiness,” into your favorite search engine.

That’s not to say, though, that if you want to be happy you should try to remain poor, or seek to be poor if you don’t happen to be. Speaking of which, while most of us have a concept of what poor is, have you ever stopped to think that most people don’t really know what a true definition of, “rich,” is?

Some people erroneously conclude that people with big homes and nice cars are, “rich,” though, in most cases, such items are more likely to be greater indicators of debt than wealth. A big home with a big mortgage or a nice car with large monthly payments represents debt, not wealth.

Likewise, many people feel that anyone who makes a certain amount of money is, “rich,” especially if they happen to make more than the “magic” threshold amount of $100,000 a year. Wrong! Just ask anyone who makes $100,000 a year and they will quickly confirm that most people who earn that much are not rich.

In fact, because most people who earn more tend to spend more, yearly earnings amounts can range quite high without a person being truly, “rich.”

So, what’s a good definition of what it means to be rich? My personal favorite is the one that Bill Cosby gave when asked by his children on his popular TV show, “The Cosby Show,” which aired from 1984 to 1992. While discussing with them the topic of what it means to be rich he said the difference is that, “people who are not rich work for their money, whereas rich people’s money works for them.” Not only is that about as good a definition as you’ll find, but it happens to be one that’s universally accepted as true.

Another well accepted definition of what it means to be rich is that rich people work because they want to and not because they have to, whereas people who are not rich work because they have to.

Still think that money can’t buy happiness? If it’s true that the happiest people of all have been found to be those who spend the most time with their family, then is it possible that if you are in the financial position to be able to work less that you could spend more time with your family, thus making you, and your family, happier?

Here is something else to think about: Did you know that the majority of wealthy people are business owners? Over 70 percent of all millionaires own their own business.

What’s more, are you aware that even if you aren’t rich you can enjoy many of the same benefits simply by owning a successful home based business?

It’s already been established that spending time with our spouse or family is what makes most people happiest. So, if your current job or occupation is preventing you from spending time with your family, or doing the other things in life that you enjoy, due to mandatory long hours at work, mandatory travel, etc., owning a home business can provide you with extra income, which can in turn reduce the need for you to work as many hours away from home (or, again, whatever in life it is that you enjoy).

Also near the top of the list of things that equate to personal happiness is good health. In fact, when people are asked if they would rather have money or good health, most people answer that they would rather have good health. After all, what good is money if you don’t have the good health to enjoy it?

Did you know that, for most people, income and money equate directly to good health? Poor people, for instance, typically cannot afford to feed their families properly to maintain optimal natural health, or afford quality medical insurance to maintain optimal medical health — whether preventative care such as routine checkups and dental visits, or care when something goes wrong or treatment is needed.

Just one of the things that money buys is choice. People without money are forced to buy what they can afford, whereas people with money have the luxury and advantage of choice. People with money can not only afford to buy the best medical insurance, but they typically have more options and more choice when it comes to medical care. People without money may have very restrictive health care options, or may not even have insurance at all.

And, of course, good health also starts with what we eat. Have you ever stopped to realize that junk food is by far cheaper and more affordable than the quality food items that have been proven to be best for our health?

Fresh fruits and vegetables, for instance, are far more expensive than things like potato chips, snack foods, junk food, and less healthy food items. Quality meats (with less fat) are more expensive than cheaper cuts of meat. Organically grown produce is more expensive than regular produce. and It’s been well proven that, typically, the higher the education and income level that people have, the healthier they eat, the better insurance they have, and the healthier they actually are. And, healthier people are happier people. Still think that money can’t buy happiness?

Yet another item that ranks high on the list of what people equate to happiness is safety. The opposite of safety is fear, and fear is closely related to stress, which we’ll talk about in a minute. Are you driving a lesser car than you would like to that doesn’t make you feel quite as safe as you would like to feel? Better built and maintained homes can be safer and more comfortable than homes that are less so. If someone can’t afford to be in the kind of home and neighborhood they would like to be in, they are likely to be less happy than if they were.

We’ve talked about some of the things that researchers have universally found to be responsible for greater happiness, but how about one of the greatest causes of unhappiness: stress?

Not only does stress make people unhappy, but it’s also been determined to be unhealthy. Stress can lead to health problems.

On the one hand the more money people have the more they have to worry about. And, of course, some people are never satisfied. The more money they make, the more things they have to buy, and the more responsibilities and headaches they seemingly create for themselves. But that certainly doesn’t describe what everyone does with money.

Not including people who are never satisfied and can never have enough, more money can equate directly to less financial stress. Less stress equates to a happier person.

Someone who doesn’t have enough money to pay his or her bills, or who is constantly living paycheck to paycheck is likely to be more stressed than someone who has extra money in the bank.

And, of course, money can buy luxury, relaxation, and pampering, all of which equate to less stress (more happiness), and even better physical well being.

Celebrities and the well to do are often admired for looking good for their age, younger than their age, etc. Plastic surgery not withstanding, it’s largely due to all of the perks mentioned above. Celebrities typically lead pampered lives and often have the best of everything. Better food, less stress, more relaxation and pampering, fewer wrinkles

More often the people likely to be found saying that, “money can’t buy happiness,” the most are people who either don’t have it, or never have. After all, how would they know? Wealthy people also sometimes say that, “money can’t buy happiness,” but they are also just as likely to follow that statement by telling you that they would also, “rather be with it than without it.”

How about you, do you still think that money can’t buy happiness? If so, maybe you better think again…

Every year more and more people are working from home, starting their own businesses. Men and women, even teenagers are starting their own home business ventures. In the last ten years work-at-home businesses have tripled, according to statistics. I think it’s probably more than that actually. Just look at how many people make a living selling things on EBay!™

It’s no wonder really why so many people want to work at home and there are a vast amount of good reasons why.

The costs of traveling, including vehicle maintenance, the cost of gas, child-care, and dry cleaning, are just a few good reasons why it’s cheaper to stay home and work, right?!

Not having to answer to a boss or a supervisor is another great reason too. Being able to set your own hours and work when you want to work is a definite plus as well.

Some people can’t see how they are going to do it though. I mean, how are you going to give up work and replace that income and not worry about how you are going to pay the bills? It’s impossible, right? — Wrong! — It’s not impossible, and it will take some hard work at first, and some extra working hours, but you can do it if you want to badly enough. Choose a business that will allow you to work in your spare-time and keep your job, and you have eliminated the risks. As a business owner, there will be times that you feel overwhelmed with tasks you want to accomplish, but seem to never have enough time to complete everything.

1) Create A To Do List – Having a well plotted “To Do List” will keep you focused on the tasks that need attention and will help you from straying away from the things you want or need to accomplish.

2) Prioritize Your To Do List – If you have a “To Do” list that contains several tasks, it is wise to separate the
items that must be done now from the ones that hold lesser importance. Tasks with a deadline should be first on your priority list.

3) Spend Time Planning – Using your time to plan and think ahead is time spent wisely. Having a clear direction where you want your business to be in a few years down the road will allow you to spend your precious time and money more effectively and efficiently. It has been said, that if you
do not plan, then you are planning to fail.

4) Create Goals For Yourself – Without goals your life would have no direction. When setting goals be sure to create ones that are specific, achievable, realistic and at the same time cause you to reach beyond your comfort zone so that you gain the ability to reach those goals that are more difficult to obtain than others.

5) Overcome Procrastination – Many people put off things that they don’t want to do until the very last minute. One way to overcome procrastination is to work on tasks just a little bit at a time or for only a set time period rather than for long time periods all at once. This way you are still getting your important tasks done, but just at a slower rate.

6) Eliminate Important Tasks First – Check off on your “To Do” list as to which tasks out rank others as far as importance is concerned. By doing this you will not get side tracked or find yourself in a deadline rush to get the items with greater rewards finished on time. Once the important tasks are completed then you should move onto the less important items on your list.

7) Nobody’s Perfect – Doing a job well to the best of your abilities is a practice of honorable measures. By spending the time to try and be perfect at everything you do is not time well spent because the time you do spend could be used at accomplishing other important tasks. Although, some things do need to be close to perfect, but not all.

Be Flexible – Plan your time so that if there are distractions or emergencies to attend to, you won’t find
yourself in a situation where you must delay the completion of important tasks, but can attend to the distraction and still keep on schedule.

9) Treat Yourself – To make life happier and healthier for oneself, it is important that you take time away from your work to just have some fun. If all you do is work, work, work, then accomplishing the goals you have set for yourself will have little meaning and you risk mental burnout. Taking time out to have fun is also necessary to relieve yourself from the many stresses that life has to offer.

For most of us our daily lives seem to repeat day after day with little or no noticeable change. In the morning you get up, commute to work, come home, go to sleep exhausted and then start the whole process over again the next day.

The only thing really happening is were all getting older.

While preoccupied with our daily routines, we sometimes fall into a trap where we really don’t care or realize that there is a world full of excitement just waiting to be discovered.

It is now time to change your outlook and pull yourself out of the daily rut called life……

1) Face Your Fears – There are not many people in this world that like to do things outside of their comfort zone. 

Whether it be a fear of pain, fear of failure or whatever it may be, in order to grow as a person we all need to step out of that comfort zone and push ourselves to do more so we can become more as an individual.

2) Treat Others As You Would Like To Be Treated – This is such an old saying that has been repeated time and time again, but unfortunately its one that is not practiced often enough.

Far too often we lash out at others because something is not happening in our favor or we let greed get the best of us.

So the next time your about to let off steam or do something you know is wrong, try to pause for a second and just think how you would feel if someone were about to do the same to you.

It is hoped that you will see more clearly and choose a more compassionate approach when dealing with problems.

3) Don’t Blame Others For Where You Are In Life – As hard as it may be to accept, everyone is where they are in life because of the decisions they make from day to day. It is far too easy to put the blame on others for our troubles and misfortunes when in fact we are in certain predicaments because we have allowed ourselves to be pulled into them in the first place.

The next time your looking to pin the blame on someone else for the troubles you are having, try and be constructive in your thoughts to overcome the obstacle in front of you and accept the situation at hand as a learning experience.

4) Look For And Bring Out The Good In People – When involved with people in our daily lives it is way too easy to pick out a persons faults or wrong doings which in turn always seem to overshadow the good.

The next time your dealing with someone that you really just don’t care to strongly about and for whatever reason it may be, try changing your attitude to a positive one and attempt to shift the mood by being kind and courteous to them in hopes they will see their faults and in turn give you the same respect that you deserve.

5) Be A Giver – A person’s greatness is measured by what they do or give to other people in need, while not expecting anything in return.

No matter if you just give your time, knowledge, or a helping hand, the gratification of knowing you did a good deed should be reward enough for someone who is a true giver.

6) View Life As A Giant Classroom – Everyday you wake up treat it as if it were your last chance to learn about the things you want to know about.

View the people you work or interact with as your classmates and no matter how little it may seem, they all have some kind of life lesson you can use to develop into the person you want to be.
